So that’s that, then.

I had my last little short run today, meaning that – ack, I can hardly wrap my head around it! – my half-marathon training is finished. Done, kaput, kapow, finito, history. Since January 3, all I’ve been working for is a mere three days away. The next time I put on my shoes and shorts and SpongeBob Squarepants watch, it will be to run 13.1 miles. WHAAAAAAT. (I’m still so freaking excited!) Today’s run was humid, which was not great, but I made it, which felt great, if a little anticlimactic. (2 miles seems like a blink of an eye at this point.) The weather for Saturday morning looks perfect for a race: high 30s by start time, mid-40s by the time I should finish, zero humidity, zero cloud cover. Sweeeet.

I thought it might be interesting to go back and calculate how many miles I’ve run this year. I “officially” started training on January 16, but did the first two weeks of the program in the first two weeks of the year before that, meaning that I technically did a month of weeks 1 and 2. Here’s the breakdown:

January: 56.73 miles

February: 75.3 miles

March: 98.6 miles

April: 7 miles (haha awww)

TOTAL: 237.63

Good God. When you put it in those terms, 13.1 doesn’t seem too bad. 🙂

Anyway… wow. I might bust out of my skin I’m so pumped. It’s going to be hard to not go entirely stir-crazy for the next two days of rest and fueling, but I think I’ve lined up enough distractions that I’ll be okay. Just don’t mind me quietly going ‘eeeeeeee!’ over here in the corner…
